Develop a Global Partnership for Development

To determine the accomplishments achieved with respect to global cooperation for development, a number of targets have been adopted along with certain indicators that reflect such achievements in the following manner. Given UAE income category and developmental indicators, the relevant sub-indicator under Goal 8 is the extent to which UAE contributes to LDCs to attain their MDGs as well as meet other developmental challenges.

In the spirit of MDG 8, UNDP-UAE in recent past forged strong partnership with key national charity organizations, namely, the UAE Red Crescent and Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, as well as with the private sector for mobilizing resources for UNDP offices in Least Developed Countries (LDCs)., since 2006, UNDP-UAE facilitated the funding of projects in several countries exceeding US$ 10 million in Indonesia, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, and Somalia in partnership with local NGOs in the UAE. To fully achieve this goal, however, and to acknowledge UAE’s contributions, assistance should be channeled through existing multilateral system and the United Nations.
