<< Back

The project aims to support the development of the date palm industry in the UAE through the upgrading of national capacity and research on the date palm production and propagation, and strengthening of the Al Ain tissue culture laboratory for in vitro propagation of the best date palm varieties in order to satisfy the country’s need in plant material. The project will build on the results achieved in the first phase of implementation and will further develop and consolidate its date palm application in the areas of micro propagation, genetic fingerprinting and date production. The large scale multiplication and planting of date palm is intended to contribute to halting desertification and increase income for farmers.
